On Saturday, August 16th, I had the pleasure of attending LEGACY, an unforgettable summer celebration hosted by Beautiful Machine Magazine in collaboration with the Detroit Auto Show. Set at the iconic Berry Gordy Mansion in Detroit’s historic Boston-Edison district, the evening was a perfect mix of luxury, culture, and connection.

A Legendary Backdrop: The Berry Gordy Mansion
There are few venues in Detroit more fitting for an event called LEGACY than the Motown Mansion. Built in 1917, this historic estate was once the home of Motown founder Berry Gordy Jr., the visionary who shaped an entire era of music. Walking through the mansion and its lush grounds, you could feel the weight of Detroit’s creative and cultural history. It was more than just a party—it was an experience steeped in heritage and artistry.
Automotive Artistry Meets Summer Chic
In true collaboration with the Detroit Auto Show, the event featured a stunning lineup of automobiles that were nothing short of rolling works of art. From gleaming classics to cutting-edge luxury rides, the curated showcase added a sense of sophistication and innovation that reminded us of Detroit’s legacy as the Motor City.
The vibe of the night was summer chic elegance. Guests dressed to impress, blending high fashion with effortless Detroit cool. The atmosphere was warm, stylish, and filled with that unmistakable late-summer energy.
The Taste of Legacy
No detail was overlooked when it came to food and drink. Guests mingled over signature mocktails by Proofless Infusions, offering a refreshing and modern twist on summer sipping. For those who preferred a stronger pour, local spirits were available to sample, highlighting Detroit’s growing craft beverage scene.
Fashion, Creativity, and Community
One of the highlights of the evening was the fashion show, featuring the work of Detroit’s own local designers and stylists. Bold, fresh, and innovative, the show reflected the creativity thriving in our city today. Surrounded by Detroit’s leading influencers, entrepreneurs, and changemakers, the sense of community was powerful—this was more than a social event, it was a statement of Detroit’s influence and artistry.
Adding to the evening’s luxurious flair, Havana Cigars ATL provided a curated cigar experience that fit perfectly with the mansion’s timeless, classy energy.

Celebrating Detroit’s Legacy
At its heart, LEGACY was about more than beautiful cars, curated cocktails, and glamorous fashion. It was about celebrating Detroit’s legacy of innovation, creativity, and culture, while connecting the people who are continuing to build on that foundation.
As the sun set over Boston-Edison, I couldn’t help but think about how moments like this—where history, creativity, and community collide—are what keep Detroit’s legacy alive.
LEGACY wasn’t just an event. It was a reminder: we are Detroit, we are the legacy, and the best is still ahead.
