Over the years, my skin type has changed. This can happen due to environmental factors, health, and age. You can’t wear the same foundation you did at 20 when you’re 35 or at 35 when you’re 45. Your skin has changed and so should your foundation and having the correct foundation matters.
Not only do you need the right foundation, but you may also need a couple of different foundations. I use a few foundations for different purposes. I even have different formulas for each season.
Tarte Amazonian Clay 16-Hour Full Coverage Foundation
When I want that full coverage, beat face look, I use Tarte Amazonian Clay 16-Hour Full Coverage Foundation. The formula is a vegan soft matte mouse. I apply it with the Tarte The Buffer™ Airbrush Finish Foundation Brush. I stumbled upon this foundation on a trip to Sephora. I was looking for the most natural foundation I could get with the fullest coverage, and they recommended Tarte.
One of the first ingredients listed is Amazonian clay, which puts me in the mind of a vacation. It’s like being on an island, getting a clay mask, only it’s a foundation! In fact, I love wearing it when I go on beach vacations because it doubles as a sunscreen!
It totally erases my pores and smooths out fine lines and wrinkles. The finish is an airbrushed look that never appears flat. My skin stays hydrated.
It’s formulated without gluten, parabens, and sulfates. It contains Skinvigorating™ ingredients like sustainably sourced, hand-harvested Amazonian clay. Vitamin E acts as a natural preservative as well as an anti-inflammatory emollient & antioxidant. A great selection of shades is available.
Nars Radiant Longwear Foundation
Once I got to my 30’s, I was sort of over the super beat look (except for special occasions) and wanted a more healthy-looking glow. I still wanted the coverage, but I wanted it to look very dewy and radiant. Again, I took a trip to Sephora and got matched up. They gave me a few samples to try. After giving them a test run, I found myself always going back to the Nars Radiant Longwear Foundation.
It’s a 16-hour foundation with a buildable medium-to-full coverage. It’s super lightweight for a longwear foundation with a natural finish.
Its breathable, fade-resistant formula is infused with Raspberry, Apple, and Watermelon Extracts to help smooth and improve the look of skin instantly and over time for full-powered radiance. It wears longer, stays stronger, and looks better with each hour. It won’t clog your pores and stands the test of sweat, transferring and fading.
BareMinerals Original Loose Powder Foundation
There’s one more look that I really enjoy, and it is the “is she wearing foundation” natural look. This look is great for a trip to the grocery store, going to a kid’s sports game, or taking a casual stroll in the city. For this, I use a powder foundation. The one I use is the BareMinerals Original Loose Powder Foundation.
It’s a super lightweight sheer-to-full coverage mineral foundation with a natural, luminous finish. It won’t clog pores. It doesn’t settle in creases and fine lines. I really like that it promotes clearer, healthy-looking skin over time. It also provides mineral-based SPF 15 for protection against UVA and UVB rays (Nice added bonus, right?).
The ingredients are simple and clean. It’s vegan, hypoallergenic and cruelty-free.
